Vipassana Meditation Center (August 25, 2008)
|
Every one seeks Peace, Compassion and Love. How do you get them? Vipassana Meditation is the way to seek Peace, Compassion and Love.
A group of Seniors from India Home visited Vipassana Meditation Center at Shelburne, MA on August 25, 2008 and they returned home happy and with fond memories.
Vipassana Meditation
Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is one of India's most ancient techniques of meditation. It was rediscovered by Gouthama Buddha more than 2500 years ago and was taught by him as a universal remedy for universal ills. This non-sectarian technique aims for the total eradication of mental impurities and the resultant highest happiness of full liberation. Healing, not merely the curing of diseases, but the essential healing of human suffering, is its purpose. Vipassana is a way of self-transformation through self-observation. It focuses on the deep interconnection between mind and body, which can be experienced directly by disciplined.
All courses are run solely on a donation basis. All expenses are met by donations from those who, having completed a course and experienced the benefits of Vipassana, wish to give others the same opportunity. Neither the Teacher nor the assistant teachers receive remuneration; they and those who serve the courses volunteer their time. Thus Vipassana is offered free from commercialization.

Integral Yoga Institute (August 08, 2008)
|
Report on visit to Integral Yoga Institute, New York City
On a van donated to India Home by Doshi Family Foundation, eight seniors of Indian origin embarked on a journey to Manhattan to learn about Integral Yoga on a day with three 8s in this year’s calendar.
Integral Yoga enables one to attain easeful body, a peaceful mind, a useful life and ultimately the realization of one’s true self. Integral Yoga was taught originally by Sri Swami Satchidananda.
The Institute is offering various courses in Integral Yoga and 5,000 visitors go through the Center every month. Apart from the teaching of Integral Yoga, the Institute houses a book-store that holds books on various types of Yoga and also books on teachings of Swami Satchidananda. To keep the body well nourished with satvic foods, a store is maintained to cater all vegetarian products that were grown organically and the range is mind boggling. We did not have time to visit the apothecary attached to the Institute where herbal remedies are available.
The Yoga teachers at the Institute are loving and caring in nature and they gave us a lunch with Satvic foods and this has delighted us all, as we are all vegetarians. The team was lead by the coordinator Janak Dutt and other seniors included Satyanarayana Gavarasana, Subhadra Gavarasana, Hansa Shah, Harikishan Shah, Vimla Shah, Ramchandra Patel, Jayashri Patel and they enjoyed the trip.
Thanks to Dr. LEENA DOSHI, DOSHI FAMILY FOUNDATION.
