Dr. Nalini Juthani : Outstanding Personality
1) Dr. Nalini Juthani… 2-3) Veena and me with Dr. Juthani at our home… 4) Dr. Juthani at Satya Narayan Mandir…
Dear Well Wishers,
As you may know, Dr. Nalini Juthani is a psychiatrist by profession. She is retired but not yet tired. In her active retirement
she is occupied in creative activities such as volunteering, artwork, gardening, photography and creative writing. She has
given several lectures at Not For Profit Organizations and throughout the Pandemic Year she conducted a class in creative
writing once a week for India Home seniors. She is always available to consult, encourage and advise…
She has published and edited two short email story books entitled “Enrichments For Life”. Two memoirs, and most recently
she has co-authored a book entitled: ‘Mental Illness among South Asian Americans: Twenty culturally mindful Case Studies.’
She conducts and supports social and medical missions in India as well as in the US. She is a student of life, as well as a
life coach for her children, grandchildren and people in need. Besides, she is a humble and down to earth person…
Coincidentally, we knew each-other from our India Home’s Programs and Budget Director Kavita Shah. Kavita introduced
Dr. Nalini Juthani to me. The good reason was, we both have love for oldies. When Dr. Juthani also saw my huge collection
of rare Hindi film photographs, she was very impressed and amazed. Dr. Juthani and Kavita Shah both arranged my audio-
visual program of ‘100 Years of Indian Cinema’ for ‘Indo-American Senior Citizen Center of India’ at our ‘India Home’,
Jamaica office, two years ago when Dr. Juthani was Past President of Indo-American SCC. Proud to mention that, since
then Dr. Nalini Juthani became our good friend through our common interest. As they say, ‘Music Has No Boundaries’.
Just like “The Rhythm of the body, the Melody of the mind and the Harmony of the soul create a Symphony of Life…”
मूर्ती लहान पण कीर्ती मोठी…
1-2) Dr. Juthani giving a lecture at India Home session at Satya Narayan Mandir, Woodside, Queens… 3) I am with Dr. Juthani…
Few months ago Dr. Juthani gave an excellent lecture on ‘5 levels of hoarding disorder with solutions’ in India Home session
at Satya Narayan Mandir, Woodside, Queens. Hoarding is very common in every house and presents a major problem.
It was very helpful to our IH members and we enjoyed it with interest. It was a surprise at the end of Dr. Juthani’s lecture,
she introduced me to our India Home members. She told about my hobbies, collection of music and filmy contacts etc.
We both share our roots in Mumbai. Honestly, I was truly honored by her gesture…
Later, I requested IH’s executive director Dr. Vasundhara Kalasapudi that, “Dr. Juthani should come to IH periodically
and discuss other major issues related to seniors as well.’” Dr. K. thanked me and said. “Jayant jee, you may not know
that Nalinijee has trained many psychiatrists in her career, and we are fortunate to have a “Guru” like her. I will discuss
the details with her about giving lectures to our seniors at India Home…”
I also know that Dr. Nalini Juthani and her husband, Dr. Virendra Juthani have a state of the art Karaoke group that
meets in her house every week for the last ten years…
Since we knew each other, we shared songs, photos, interesting info, articles etc. Dr. Juthani is always prompt, courteous
and appreciates seniors’ accomplishments with kind words…
Besides Dr. Juthani’s successful, professional and career background, please take a look at her creativity through these
pictures of her art work and photographs.
