Fwd: Old Actress Purnima..!

1-2-3) Though she was supporting actress in 1951 Badal, beautiful Purnima established herself
as a popular actress in 1951 Badal…

Dear All,

In 1977-78, I went to Doha, Qatar in the Arabian Gulf for work. One day, while returning home from work by taxi, the Pakistani driver was playing old Hindi songs. I heard ‘Duniya badal rahi hai, aansu bahne wale‘ from the movie 1951 Badal, sung by Lata Mangeshkar which is a favorite of mine. Upon hearing it, I told the driver, ‘I wonder what Purnima, who sang this song in the movie, looks like’. Immediately, the driver stopped the car on the side of the road and said to me, ‘Bhaisaab, you took the words right out of my mouth. I agree with you completely.‘ At that moment, when the car stopped, I was actually scared in my heart. However, it was my luck that Purnima was that driver’s favorite actress. When I told him that I was also a lover and collector of old songs, he was thrilled. His name was Salim. I had brought some rare songs with me. I gifted one cassette to that taxi driver, Salim which I always carry with me. The result was that despite my insistence, Salim did not take any money for that ride..!

Well, this magic was not that of Madhubala or Lata. It was the influence of the actress ‘Purnima’. Anyway, lying on the bed at night, I remembered the song ‘Main rahi bhataknewala hoon, koi kya jaane matwawala hoon‘ sung by Mukesh from the movie Badal, and I had a peaceful sleep…

“Old memories have an unbreakable bond. This song is not just a medium for listening, but a journey that revives memories, emotions, and sweet moments from a specific time…”

Best regards,
Jayant.
